The NKBA Kitchen & Bath Certification is based on:
• Proctored examinations
• A minimum of 7 years industry experience
• 60 NKBA Education hours
• 2 affidavits, 2 client references
• Annual continuing education requirements
The National Association ofHome Builders (NAHB) in collaboration with the NAHB Research Center, NAHB 50 Housing Council, and AARP developed the Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) program to address the growing number of consumers that will soon require these modifications.
A Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) has been trained in:
• The unique needs of the older adult population
• Aging-in-place home modifications
• Common remodeling projects
• Solutions to common barriers
This approach can also be applied to Universal Design for those with long or short-term disabilities (i.e.: car accident impairments, or post-surgery recovery).
