Joel Fraley, CKD, CAPS, Design Consultant

Joel Fraley is a Certified Kitchen Designer and CAPS specialist in Universal and Accessible Design. He has been with Neil Kelly Design/Build since 2005. His work has been published in Better Homes and Gardens, Oregon Home magazine, the Oregonian and the Denver Post. He has won multiple design awards for his work in historic renovation, bathroom design and whole house remodeling. 

Joel is nationally known for his expertise in green and sustainable design practices, having served on the board of the Rocky Mountain chapter of the US Green Building Council and the Portland Metro Home Builder's Association Building Green Council. He recently served on the judging panel of Eco Home magazine Design Awards.

Joel has a diverse background in both commercial and residential design. In addition to his design background, Joel is a skilled carpenter and furniture maker. When he's not working on his own house, Joel enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Michele and their dog Lucy. 

 

 

Shelly Aften, Design Associate

Shelley Aften has been with Neil Kelly Company as a Senior Design Associate since 1997. She grew up in McMinnville, Oreogn and graduated from Oregon State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Housing Design. Shelley has used her design skills to help create numerous remodeling projects with many of the Neil Kelly Company design teams including many projects for Joel Fraley & Paul Louis. Restoring traditional design and character to older homes are some of her favorite kind of remodeling projects. Shelley and her husband Erik and Three children Madison, Mason, and Tess live on several acres in Salem. The family enjoys playing and watching sports, particularly soccer, and spending time in the outdoors gardening and camping. 

 

Paul Louis, Project Manager

Paul relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area to attend Oregon State University where he earned a BS in Housing Studies. Since then he has held multiple project management and superintendent positions in the construction industry. Paul has been with Neil Kelly for over 15 years. In his spare time he tends to his filbert orchard and his two teenagers.
