Rustic Modern Bath Retreat

We selected environmentally friendly Squak Mountain paper-concrete composite for the vanity countertop and bench seat in the roll-in open shower that is completely accessible. For texture, and a retro-modern look, we ran a "river" of natural pebble tiles across the vanity top and in the shower niche. Easy to clean glazed porcelain tiles are on the walls of the shower, and the bathroom walls were treated with American Clay natural plaster in a complimentary soft green tone. Existing horizontal windows were re-glazed with alternating stripes of reeded glass and mirror, and whimsical low voltage pendant lighting was used for task lighting and sparkle. The Rustic Modern theme complemented both the contemporary lines of this mid century modern home, and integrated its’ stunning wooded setting to accomplish just what the owners had originally hoped to achieve. The clean lines, use of space and natural light makes the bath feel larger than before, and the environmentally friendly selection of materials celebrates the natural surroundings
