What is the difference between remodeling and renovation?

These terms get used interchangeably all the time, but they do mean different things. Remodeling involves changing the structure or function of a space, such as moving walls, reconfiguring a layout, or converting a room to a new use. Renovation typically means updating or restoring existing elements without structural changes, like replacing fixtures, refinishing floors, or refreshing a kitchen without touching the layout.
